The Kunstsammlungen Antike are the teaching and training collection for students and researchers of the archaeological sciences and related subjects, and one of the largest public collections of ancient works of art in the entire Ruhr region.

In addition to many outstanding masterpieces, which have earned the collection an international reputation, there are objects from all areas of everyday life in antiquity, from architecture and personal hygiene to ritual practices.

In addition to didactic and scientific tasks, the Kunstsammlungen Antike also serves to offer interested visitors as broad a picture as possible of the artistry of past cultures.
