We are very excited to announce that Nick Mayhew, Ph.D., will be Humboldt Foundation postdoctoral fellow at the Chair in Early Modern History & Gender History from 2022 -2024! He will take up his fellowship at RUB in September 2022
Nick Mayhew received his PhD in Slavonic Studies from the University of Cambridge in 2018. From 2018 to 2021, he was an Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Researcher and a Lecturer in Slavic Languages and Literatures at Stanford University. During the current 2021-2022 academic year, he is a Lecturer in Russian at the University of Oxford. Nick's research explores queer gender and sexuality in Russian culture, history, and society. So far, most of his published work has focussed on queerness in Russian Orthodox culture of the medieval and early modern periods, but his upcoming research project will explore the discursive construction and regulation of homosexuality in Russian law and literature of the eighteenth to early twentieth centuries.
