Information on corruption prevention

The regulations on corruption prevention at Ruhr University Bochum has been issued to raise awareness for corruption among employees of Ruhr University Bochum, explain the personal hazards and consequences of corrupt behaviour, and most importantly outline codes of conduct for the prevention of corruption.

The regulations are not limited to the prohibition of accepting rewards, gifts and other benefits in service, but also show courses of action for working relationships based on mutual trust and designed to foster scientific endeavours. They are meant to encourage employees of Ruhr University Bochum to reach out to the listed contacts in case of doubts, so that they, in collaboration with the respective administrative departments, can identify and show up legal avenues for realising a project.

At the same time, the regulations help implement legal provisions stipulated in the Corruption Prevention Act and the circular degree issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs titled “Verhütung und Bekämpfung von Korruption in der öffentlichen Verwaltung” (prevention and control of corruption in public administration) from 26.04.2005, according to which the university is obliged to implement appropriate provisions for the prevention of corruption.
