For winter semester 2017/2018, the International Office of Ruhr-Universität is looking for three “Berufsfeldpraktikanten” as “Campus Guide Integra” that accompany prospective refugee students of the Integra programme at events and excursions.

The Integra programme

In order to help prospective refugee students to have a successful start in their studies the International Office/RUBiss – international student services offers the Integra programme which consists of a German language course combined with a propaedeutic programme. In lectures, events, workshops and excursions, the refugee students gain an insight into the system of the university, their social contacts are expanded, and they become familiarized with the German culture. The programme is designed to help refugees to settle in Germany and to pave the way for a successful academic career through the acquisition of systemic and social skills.

The Campus Guides Integra will support and accompany mainly the activities of the propaedeutic programme. Among the events to be held are an intercultural workshop, a weekly language practice meet up, a weekly learning meet up, as well as various other events. A preparatory and obligatory workshop or intercultural training will prepare you for the internship as Campus Guide Integra.

The internship

The internship starts shortly before the start of the winter semester (1 October 2017), ends shortly after the end of the semester (28 February 2018).

As Campus Guide Integra, you have the opportunity to gain experiences in the organization of events and project work, to develop and promote your intercultural competences, to improve your foreign language skills and, in addition, to train your communication and presentation competencies, especially in dealing with other cultures.

You should be interested in other cultures, have a good knowledge of Ruhr-Universität (orientation on campus) and of the Ruhr area, and be friendly and flexible (also suitable for international students). Knowledge of German and English is a prerequisite, Arabic knowledge is an advantage. Experiences as a group leader are also advantageous, but not a prerequisite.

The internship includes 150 hours of work and is suitable for all students who can take part in the internships of the “Optionalbereich” as part of their bachelor degree programme and who are not already employed at RUB during the internship.
