DAAD-Price 2016 for Vladislav Gudžulić

This year the DAAD-Price has been awarded to Vladislav Gudžulić from Serbia, a Master student of Computational Engineering.

The award of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is granted to international students who execute outstanding academic performances and demonstrate social commitment. The award is given during the annual meeting of DAAD scholarship holders and includes a price of 1000 €. The announcement is addressed to employees of the University for proposing qualified students.

This year’s awardee was nominated by Dipl.-Ing. Jörg Sahlmen of the international master degree programme Computational Engineering who also held the laudatory speech for Mr Gudžulić. The Price was awarded by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Professional Development of RUB Prof. Dr. Kornelia Freitag.

Mr Gudžulić was selected by a selection committee of the International Office due to his outstanding academic performances in Computational Engineering – with an expected grade point average of 0.8 – and also due to his remarkable social commitment in the departmental student committee, the faculty council and the examination board.

Besides the awards ceremony, the annual DAAD scholarship holders’ meeting offers other interesting acts.The scholarship holders were given the opportunity to present their home countries and their international experiences by the host of the DAAD, Ms Dr. Birgit Klüsener. Interesting and informative presentations were given by students from Romania, Peru, Columbia, and Scotland.

In total, students from Afghanistan, Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bulgaria, Brazil, Chile, China, France, Georgia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Canada, Cameroon, Kenia, Kirgizia, Colombia, Cuba, Lebanon, Malawi, Macedonia, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestine, Panama, Peru, the Philippines, Romania, Russia, Zambia, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Serbia, South Korea, Syria, Thailand, Turkey, the Ukraine, Uganda, and Vietnam as well as former DAAD scholarship holders of RUB were invited.

The DAAD is one of the most significant funding organisations for international exchange of students and researchers all over the world and is funding annually about 150 international students who start studying at RUB. Furthermore, international students taking part in special projects, and RUB students who are studying abroad, are sponsored.
