Scholars At Risk Network Is Looking for Interns

The Scholars At Risk Network (SAR) in New York City is an international network of institutions and individuals whose mission it is to protect scholars and promote academic freedom. Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of the founding members of SAR and member of the Steering Committee of its German section. SAR seeks a dedicated, detail-oriented intern with excellent writing and research skills to join SAR’s Advocacy team for Fall or Spring 2017. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the internship is filled. Internships are unpaid.

The intern's duties and responsibilities are among others: researching allegations of attacks on higher education communities, and drafting reports on verified attacks, monitoring cases of imprisoned scholars, and writing case updates for our network; writing action alerts and letters of appeal, to be sent on behalf of imprisoned scholars or higher education communities under attack; drafting social media posts relating to imprisoned scholars and attacks on higher education communities.

SAR is looking for interns with exceptional writing skills, experience with detailed, investigative research, strong attention to detail, and strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities, experience with social media highly desirable, demonstrated commitment to human rights and/or international education.
