PAD: Foreign Language Assistants at Schools Abroad

Students training to become foreign language teachers can apply to participate in the Foreign Language Assistants Programme offered by the Pädagogischer Austauschdienst (PAD) until 1 December 2017 (for the USA it is 19 November 2017). The assistants usually spend between half a year and a whole school year at a primary or secondary school, or at an institution of higher education in Canada, Mexico and the USA and assist the German teachers there.

Participants have the opportunity to work in Australia, Belgium (Wallonia), China, France, Ireland, Italy, Canada (English and French-speaking areas), Mexico, New Zealand, Norway. the French-speaking part of Switzerland, Spain, the USA or the UK. One of the subjects taken at university should be the language of the host country. However, this is not necessary for the European countries. In these countries it is enough that you have a good command of the host language (at least B1). The application documents can be submitted to the Ministry of Education for the respective federal state (i.e. NRW).

All applicants need to be German citizens and academic nationals. The language assistants receive a monthly allowance from the host country.
