Research

The Research of the team »Media and anthropological knowledge« is focusing on the media in the modern affect research. The study traces the development of modern affect concepts in the photographic age, and pursues its standardization up to base emotions and the coded »Facial Affect« in the 20th Century. The aim is to contrast modern media anthropology of human affect with function and meaning of emotion and affect in contemporary psychology and in the life sciences. Special emphasis is placed on the standardized representation of affect as a stimulus in fundamental neuroscience research.
