Whether you're coming from the south, north, east, or west—there are many ways to get to the Ruhr University Bochum campus. On this page, we'll show you how.
Since February 19, 2026, renovation work on the central parking garage has been underway, resulting in the closure of parking levels P1 through P6. These parking areas are expected to remain closed until spring 2028. Levels P7 through P9 will remain open for the time being. Please use the free East (P20) and West (P12/P13) parking garages as alternative parking areas.
If you are traveling by car, please allow extra time to find parking. We recommend using public transportation.

You’d like to get to Ruhr University Bochum in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way? No problem, the university is very easy to reach by public transport, bike or on foot; parking spots, however, tend to be difficult to find.
From Bochum’s main railway station, you can take the underground U35 (CampusLinie) to get to Ruhr University Bochum, which has its own stop. The U35 (going in the direction of Bochum Hustadt) runs every 5 minutes on weekdays and takes less than 10 minutes from the main station to the university.
External Ruhr University Bochum tips for traveling by public transport
Parking spaces and parking garages at Ruhr University are generally free of charge and open 24 hours a day. However, some spaces require a parking key. For example, the visitor parking lot is reserved for registered guests of Ruhr University. You can find more information about on-campus parking here.
The campus is easily accessible by bike or on foot. From the west via Max-Imdahl-Straße, from the north via the Uni-Center, from the east via Lennershofstraße or Am Hochschulcampus, and from the south via Lottental.
