4th REINECKE CUP, APRIL 2024

In April 2024 the Reinecke Cup was held indoors for the first time. The student councils of the MA ECUE and MA EELP programmes hosted a major sporting event in the sports hall at Revierpark Gysenberg. In a football match clearly dominated by the EELP team, the ECUE team was beaten 7:1. In addition to the traditional football match, the sporting afternoon was rounded off with matches in dodgeball and basketball. The big players' party in Cafe Neuland was the successful conclusion to a wonderful day.

EELP BERLIN TRIP 2023

For the second time, the student council of the MA EELP organised the excursion to Berlin and we were able to experience a perfect weekend together with the students. From 27-31 October 2023, the new students were able to get to know each other well, but also make contacts with higher semesters. The successful programme (city tour, visit to Museum Island, meeting at the Bundestag, visit to the Jewish Museum and extensive partying in the evenings) made this weekend a wonderful experience for everyone. Our international students in particular were thrilled to visit the capital right at the start of their studies.

3rd REINECKE CUP, JUNE 2023

As every year in Summer, the Reinecke Cup was one of the best events for the students of MA ECUE and MA EELP. The winner of the 2023 Cup is the MA EELP team. In a rousing football match, the MA ECUE team was beaten 4:5 in the end. The beautiful sporting event was framed by other matches in Flunky Ball, Spike Ball, Basketball and Kubb. The MA EELP student council provided enough food and drinks.

Berlin Trip November 2022

Sunshine, 20 degrees, and a group of EELP students and EELP alumni. There is nothing more you need for a great weekend. From Oct 28 to Nov 01 2022, the student council of the EELP programme organised a short trip to Berlin. The successful programme (city tour, visit to the Museum Island, boat trip on the Spree, meeting in the Bundestag, visit to the Jewish Museum and extensive partying in the evenings) made this weekend a real experience for everyone.

2nd Reinecke Football Cup, summer 2022

The summer semester's highlight outside lecture hall was the football match MA EELP vs. MA ECUE of the 2nd Reinecke Football Cup in May 2022. This year, in a very exciting match the EELP team won with 5:3. Marcus Reinecke played for each teams a half-time and scored for both teams one goal. Organized by the student council of both study programmes all players and a lot of EELP and ECUE students finished this event with a big party.

1st Reinecke Football Cup, summer 2021

This summer the offical final of the 1st Reinecke Football Cup was played by the teams of the MA EELP and MA ECUE. In a very powerful and high quality game the EELP team has unfortuantely lost the game extremly tight with 2:3. Until the last minutes they were fighting and within the extra-time there were good chances on both sides. Organized by the student council EELP a legendary fun sport event is born. The namesake of the cup, Marcus Reinecke, was given his best to play for each teams a half-time. To be continued ...

Can we save the world?
Every day 16 thousand children are dying from consequences of global poverty.

The student council invited a project manager from the Effective Altruism Foundation to give a talk about "Doing Good Better - Introduction to Effective Altruism". When time and money are limited, how can they best be used to prevent suffering and save lives? Why should we focus on helping individuals - most of whom are complete strangers - in the first place and what can each indivdual do in order to save the world? The philosophy and global movement of Effective Altruism seeks to answer these questions from the point of view of cognitive and social psychology, philosophy, and economics. Stefan Torges, project manager at the Effective Altruism Foundation, gave a talk on what Effective Altruism is about. See the talk here. The Effective Altruism Foundation tackels contemporary ethical questions scientifically and publishs the results freely in the form of policy papers. Through their projects, they strive for the effective reduction of poverty and animal suffering while promoting a responsible approach to future technologies. They also offer donation and career advice to people who are interested in making a positive impact on the future.

Visiting the GLS Bank

Eelp Gls Klein

"Money is for the people" and the GLS Bank was there for us, the EELP students. We visited one of the first social and ecological universal banks in the world, which took the starting sentence as their motto. The former EELP student, Marian Thöne guided us through the building and explained the work and functioning of the GLS Bank. He told us about his experience as an intern at the Bank headquarter.
