Understanding Germany: An Intercultural Training, 18th Jun 2017, 10:00 AM

Every country has its own culture, rules and customs. Thus, Germans also have their own characteristics and values, for example separating their work from their private life or making a strong emphasis on rules and time-management. In this, they differ from other cultures, which can sometimes lead to misunderstandings. In order to avoid these misunderstandings and to help you settle in, we offer an intercultural training, which will explain the German culture and mentality in contrast to other cultures, give you the possibility to exchange your experiences with others and to ask individual questions. Prior to the training you will have the possibility to send questions and suggestions via an online-questionnaire to the trainer, Dr. Iris Wangermann, who works with various universities and well-known companies on a regular basis. During the training she will work with films, group-works and various other methods to give you a deeper understanding of (German) culture.

Spouses of researchers are also welcome to register for the event. Please let us know as early as possible if child care is needed for that day. Please note that places are limited and that they will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
