Visit to the Bochum-Ölbachtal wastewater treatment plant with prospective refugee students

On Tuesday, May 15 2019, 7 participants from the preparatory program "Integra" of the Ruhr-University Bochum visited the wastewater treatment plant Bochum-Ölbachtal.
The sink and the drain are not the final station of the used water in the household, it is cleaned again and used further!

The visit to the wastewater treatment plant enabled the participants to gain a deeper insight into the water purification process in Bochum and the surrounding area. With a guided tour through the different parts of the sewage treatment plant, the cleaning process and its different stages were explained. Knowledge in this subject is relevant for the participants who are interested in studying Civil Engineering, Environmental Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry.

"It was interesting to see how and where up to 193,000 m³ of wastewater can be cleaned daily", said the participants of the Integra program at the end of the tour.
