Mayoress’ reception for international students
About 120 international students from the universities and colleges in Bochum were invited to a welcome reception by the Mayoress of Bochum, Dr. Ottilie Scholz. The mayoress met the new international students in the town hall, welcomed them to Bochum and provided them with useful information about the City of Bochum. RUB’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Elmar Weiler, was present to represent the universities in Bochum and he also said a few words of welcome.
After the reception, the students from the different universities were able to mingle whilst enjoying some refreshments. There was also a tombola where students could win many prizes including tickets for one of Bochum Football Club’s next games.
Afterwards, they went to RUB’s stall at the Christmas market (Huestraße). Here, the students could taste the hot beverages and cookies from different countries (baked using recipes from international students) that are offered at the stand.
In addition to this, the students were invited to take a bus tour through Bochum the next day.
