PROFIN project
The "RUBiss" team has been able to convince a DAAD - panel of an idea for a project within the framework of the PROFIN program.
In 2010, the "PROFIN" - program has been advertised by DAAD for the second time. The program focuses on the aspect of integration as one of the important factors of the success of foreign students at german universities.
This topic and the fact that foreign students at the RUB had stressed in a survey that they would appreciate getting more support in seeking for jobs and interships have led to the project „Praktikumsvorbereitung für ausländische Studierende“. The project is a cooperation between "RUBiss", "Career Service" and "DaF"-unit (German as a foreign laguage unit) and shall prepare foreign students for searching for internships. Working together with the two partners, "RUBiss" will offer workshops on a regular basis.
Apart from preparation in terms of language, the focus will be on writing applications and practising interviews. All courses will be timed in such a way that they can be taken in addition to courses of the regular curriculum of studies. Workshops take place on the weekends and will be supervised by German students. This will help foreign students to make contacts with their fellows and foster the integration.
The project starts with a Kick-Off workshop on 5th June;
from winter semester 2010/11 on, the courses will be offered on a regular basis.
