Ruhr Fellows

Ruhr Fellows at RUB

Ten students from America’s top universities Harvard, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) are spending this summer in the Ruhr area. They also visited Ruhr-Universität Bochum for one day, became acquainted with the campus, the laboratories and explored the Botanical Garden. Silvia Gallegos López de Odvody from the chair of Feststoffverfahrenstechnik (Particle Technology) showed them how to make ice out of nitrogen.

The scholarship programme is organised by the Initiativkreis Ruhr and the UAMR universities (University Alliance Metropolis Ruhr). During the first four weeks, the Ruhr Fellows will take part in a summer school hosted by the TU Dortmund. After this, they will carry out internships in one of the following member companies of the Initiativkreis Ruhr: Evonik, Vaillant, ThyssenKrupp, SMS, Klöckner, Deutsche Bank and the Ruhrverband. The programme is mainly addressed to students studying engineering and the natural sciences.
