Mrs. Merkel and Binh Duong Nguyen

VGU’s best graduate will be a PhD student at RUB

Binh Duong Nguyen will carry out his PhD at RUB and will be working on Prof. Khanh Chau Le’s DFG project "Analysis and Numerical Simulations of the plastic deformations of single crystals and TWIP-alloys within continuum dislocation theory".

He started his master’s degree in Computational Engineering at VGU in 2009 and graduated in 2011. His master’s thesis entitled "Modelling polygonization in single crystals within the continuum dislocation theory" (supervised by Prof. Le) received the best mark 1,0. K.C. Le and B.D. Nguyen published the results of this master’s thesis as a joint paper in the International Journal of Engineering Science.

Binh Duong Nguyen was amongst the first students to study CompEng when it was introduced at VGU in 2009. He went on to gain the highest mark and has therefore been invited to the German Consulate to have his photo taken with the German Chancellor Mrs. Merkel, and to be presented with his master’s degree certificate by the former German Chancellor Mr. Schröder.
