Swedish king and RUB International Chair


RUB International Chair attended KVA meeting

Academician Professor Padma Kant Shukla CorrFRSE, RUB International Chair holder and Foreign Member of IVA and KVA (the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences), attended the 92nd Annual Meeting Activities of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, in Stockholm during the period 27-28 October 2011.

On 27th October, he took active part in the IVA Technology Forum 2011 on Innovation for Growth-Successful International Innovation Practices, and on 28th October during the formal Opening of the Annual Meeting of IVA, a portrait in Memory of Sonja Kovalevsky and Progress in Swedish Research and Technolgy were presented. The EVA President Prof Bjorn O Nilsoon emphasized the importance of fusion energy through the ITER project (EU playing a major role) and the development of free-electron x-ray lasers, areas of research that are in the interest of Prof. Padma Shukla's scientific activities at the Ruhr University Bochum.

Professor Shukla' s participation in the IVA's annual meeting boosted the internationalization efforts of RUB at the distinguished academy of engineering in Europe. During a formal reception of the IVA, Professor Shukla also had discussions with their Majesties the King and Queen of Sweden on the European Leadership in Science and Engineering (especially in areas of high-tech, nanoengineering, bio-medicine, proton theraphy, etc.) at international scales.
