A new interactive world map shows RUB’s international cooperations
The RUB has more than 40 university-wide partnerships worldwide, also more than 200 partnerships of the faculties and institutes. In addition there are numerous and so far uncounted research contacts that may or may not have a contractual basis.
To collect and publish these latter contacts, a survey among RUB’s professors was conducted in July 2010. Professors were asked to name their 5 most important research contacts, and more than 500 were named in total, from professors of all faculties and all over the world. To depict those, the International Office has developed an interactive world map.
This world map now shows the cooperations named in the survey. However, it is planned to include the university- and faculty-wide cooperations. Of course the map and its database is constantly updated and developed further.
The interactive world map illustrates the cooperations. The map is customizable by clicking on the map or using the additional drop-down menus. It can be filtered by country, faculty or form of cooperation. Underneath the map, detailed information on the cooperations is shown. It includes the name and homepage of the partner institution, a contact person at RUB as well as contact details, a description of the cooparation’s content and the duration of the collaboration so far.
Everyone interested therefore see at a glance the broad range and the number of international cooperations at RUB. Members of RUB also can see quickly which of their colleagues are cooperating with certain institutions, which can be helpful for setting up new partnerships.
Additionally the map of course shows the broad range of international research projects at RUB.
