Brexit and ERASMUS
The National Agency for EU Higher Education Cooperation DAAD has recently published information regarding Brexit and ERASMUS:
"Due to the current developments we would like to inform you about the status of the United Kingdom (UK) within the Erasmus+ Programme.
Most importantly, the conditions of the Withdrawal Agreement from 31 Januar 2020 allow for the UK's further participation in the current Erasmus+ programme generation (2014-2020). [...]
Projects that will be approved in 2020, can be carried on for the entire duration planned. [...]
A decision regarding the residence and visa regulations becoming effective as of 2021 has not been made yet. Thus, at the moment it is still not clear which regulations will be in place from 1 January 2021 on for Erasmus+ participants starting their mobility in 2020 and terminating it in 2021."
For the student and staff mobility this means that all persons planning to stay in the UK in the academic year 2020/21 can be funded via ERASMUS. Also, British nationals can continue to come to Germany through the ERASMUS programme. Residence and visa regulations will change for EU citizens travelling to the UK from 1 Januar 2021 on. What this will mean for ERASMUS students/staff, is not clear yet. Information on this matter will be provied as soon as possible.
