PAD: Foreign Language Assistants at Schools Abroad
Students training to become foreign language teachers can apply online to participate in the Foreign Language Assistants Programme offered by the Pädagogischer Austauschdienst (PAD) between 1 August 2019 and 1 January 2020 (for the USA it is 1 November 2019). The assistants usually spend between half a year and a whole school year at a primary or secondary school, or at an institution of higher education in Canada and the USA and assist the German teachers there.
Participants have the opportunity to work in Australia, Belgium (Wallonia-Brussels), China, France, Ireland, Italy, Canada (English and French-speaking areas), New Zealand, Norway, the French-speaking part of Switzerland, Spain, the USA or the UK. Priority within the selection process have applicants who study the language of the host country (exception: Norway). Future teachers are placed preferably.
All applicants need to be German citizens or academic nationals. The language assistants receive a monthly allowance from the host country.
