PAD: Extension of Application Deadline

Students training to become foreign language teachers can apply to participate in the Foreign Language Assistants Programme offered by the Pädagogischer Austauschdienst (PAD) until 1 March 2017 (other countries). The assistants usually spend a whole school year (6 months in France and Italy) at a primary or secondary school, or at a Canadian institution of higher education (universities, CEGEP, colleges) and assist the German teachers there.

Participants have the opportunity to work in Australia, Belgium (Wallonia), China, France, Ireland, Italy, Canada (English and French-speaking areas), Mexico, New Zealand, the French-speaking part of Switzerland, Spain or the UK. Norway has been recently added to the list of host countries. One of the subjects taken at university should be the language of the host country, in the case of Norway it has to be German (or German as a Foreign/Second Language). However, this is not necessary for the European countries. In these countries it is enough to you have a good command of the host language. The application documents can be submitted to the Ministry of Education for the respective federal state (i.e. NRW).

All applicants need to be either German or EU citizens and academic nationals. The language assistants receive a monthly allowance from the host country.
