PAD: Foreign Language Assistants at Schools Abroad

Students training to become foreign language teachers can apply to participate in the Foreign Language Assistants Programme offered by the Pädagogischer Austauschdienst (PAD) until 1 December 2014. The assistants usually spend a whole school year (6 months in France and Italy) at a primary or secondary school, or at a Canadian institution of higher education (universities, CEGEP, colleges) and assist the German teachers there.

Participants have the opportunity to work in Australia, Belgium (Wallonia), China, France, Ireland, Italy, Canada (English and French-speaking areas), Mexico, New Zealand, the French-speaking part of Switzerland, Spain or the UK. One of the subjects taken at university should be the language of the host country. However, this is not necessary for the European countries. In these countries it is enough that you have a good command of the host language. The application documents can be submitted to the Ministry of Education for the respective federal state (i.e. NRW).

All applicants need to be either German or EU citizens and academic nationals. The language assistants receive a monthly allowance from the host country.
