Discover the USA
The Fulbright Commission in Berlin offers students with immigrant backgrounds the unique possibility to study at the University of Kentucky in Lexington for an entire summer. Via the "Discover the USA" Programme participants get to know the academic study and cultural opportunities of an American university during this 5 week short term. Grantees attend selected university classes, refine their English skills and expand their intercultural communication and presentation competence. Furthermore, they will get to know the history and culture of Kentucky and the United States on various excursions.
All first and second year RUB students with an immigrant background may apply for the programme. With the application materials they have to demonstrate good to excellent academic standing, good English language skills, strong social and team competence as well as significant interest in the USA. The scholarship entails room and board, all tuition fees, the flight to and insurance in the USA. Additionally, the Fulbright Commission assists all grantees in applying for a visa. All application materials have to be send to Berlin via post and email until 6 January 2012.
