Work Package 3
Objectives:
Within this work package the scalable multi-processor architecture dedicated to real-time high-performance and low-power applications will be defined and various system arrangements regarding memory hierarchies and communication infrastructure will be investigated. This includes
- Requirements definition of scalable multi-core platform
- Specification and formal description of multi-core platform
- Virtual prototyping of multi-core platform
- Methodology for architecture exploration, analysis and optimisation
The challenges in the design of MP systems are in understanding:
- How system architecture affects associated software model
- How the various combinations and styles of memory and communication effect the real-time computation capability and associated power consumption
- How the requirements for scalable multi-core OS as defined in WP2 can be managed within real-time constraints and characterizations of a hardware platform
