Project Overview
ICT-eMuCo is a European project supported under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for research
and technological development in which the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Technische Universität Dresden,
University of York, "Politehnica" University of Timisoara as well as industrial partners, such as
Infineon, Telelogic, ARM and GWT-TUD participate.
The aim of the ICT-eMuCo project is to develop a platform for future mobile devices based on multi-core architecture.
This comprises the relevant controller element as well as the operating system and application layers.
An exponential growth of the computational needs of the mobile devices is expected, but the available computational capacity is limited by the power consumption.
This is due to the fact that faster cores require faster clocks and higher voltages, which means more power.
Therefore it is proposed to use a multi-core System-on-Chip architecture, which has to be driven by appropriate software to meet the performance and power requirements.
ICT-eMuCo is a pioneer in the development of a multi-core platform maintaining a high flexibility and scalability in the system which is looking toward the next generation of mobile devices.
