Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the leading causes of blindness worldwide. Univ.-Prof. dr medical Stephanie Joachim, Head of the Experimental Eye Research Institute of the Eye Clinic at the University Hospital Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bochum, from the Retinological Society (the scientific association of German retina specialists) with the “Dr. Gaide AMD Prize.
