I really did start having doubts for a little while
after hearing that as a young student…

RUB Alumni: Do you still have an object in your possession from your time as a student?

Prof. Gersmann: Yes, letters! But the rest of the stuff has been lost in the many times I have moved in recent years.

RUB Alumni: Can you remember a funny occurrence from your time as a student?

Prof. Gersmann: During one of my first - still very shy – contributions in a literature seminar, the professor running it, who was very well known at the time, answered me with an unforgettable sentence: "I cannot referentialise the hiatus to which you are currently making recourse“. I really did start having doubts for a little while after hearing that as a young student… – by hiatus he meant the difference between two research opinions.

RUB Alumni: What does your time as a student mean to you today?

Prof. Gersmann: For me, it was a time of growing up and finding my vocation – all in all a wonderful time.
