ACC Plasma Technology The Applied Competence Clusters are an integral part of the „Research Campus“, a dedicated future concept of the Ruhr-University Bochum. Therefore, they are situated at the heart of their respective research areas connecting the excellent research and multidisciplinarity from the associated Research Departments with effective highly specialized technology transfer. The ACC Plasma Technology as an institution of the Ruhr-University Bochum is focussed on the evaluation and transfer of promising new technologies and methods in the broad field of plasma technology for industry-style applications. It therefore draws on the expertise of the Research Departments Plasmas with Complex Interactions concentrating on technologically promising research results. Some of the most important applications range from sterilisation of thermolabile medical materials and thin film coatings deposition (e. g. metallic and ceramic films on the nanometer scale) to the increase of shelf-life of beverages for the food industry.
