Minorities and Philosophy (MAP) Bochum chapter

MAP aims to examine and address issues of minority participation in academic philosophy. We organize talks, movie nights and other events relevant to topics related to social justice issues, such as class, gender, masculinity, whiteness and disability. We also offer a mentoring program for undergraduates (BA) and graduate students (MA and PhDs).

In the short term, MAP provides a forum for students to discuss these topics and connect with interested peers. In the long term, we hope that MAP will contribute to improved department cultures and facilitate increased participation of underrepresented groups in academic philosophy.

SWIP Ruhr: Ruhr-Gruppe der Society for Women in Philosophy (SWIP) Germany

SWIP Ruhr is for all philosophers and students of philosophy who identify themselves as female and are working or living in the Ruhr area or visiting it. The group usually meets once per term to discuss issues pertinent to our professional lives, plan events or host external guests. To attend the meetings, you don't have to be a member of SWIP Germany. We also have a mailing list. Please join it via the website (see below).

Elmarie Venter also offers an office hour to discuss issues, questions, and suggestions (also via Skype). Please contact her via email or the website.
