Francois Recanati: The (Generalized) Reflexive Constraint

According to some authors (e.g. Lewis), the situation with respect to which an autonomous representation is evaluated has got to be the situation in which the representation is tokened. In contrast, I will argue that the situation of evaluation can shift quite freely, both in thought and discourse; and I will provide a tentative account of this characteristic feature of human cognition.
