
All principal investigator and doctoral students met at the ZESS – Center for Engineering Smarter Product-Service Systems in Bochum for the first half-year meeting. The latest progress was presented and discussed over two days. On Thursday morning, the speaker for the research group, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Ostendorf, welcomed the large group of seven project partners and several guests.

Professor Lais Mujica Roncery from the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Columbia traveled to Bochum as a visiting scholar and presented current research from the "INCITEMA - Research and Innovation in Materials, Science and Technology institute", which she has headed as director since 2023. She supports the research group in materials science issues.
Two guests from industry shared their practical experience in additive manufacturing, specifically the DED-LB/W process.

Christian Mutke from voestalpine Additive Manufacturing Center GmbH explained the use of DED-LB/M as a coating and repair process in toolmaking.

Jan Bremer from BCT Steuerungs- und DV-Systeme GmbH explained the automated hybrid process chain of scanning, welding, and milling with adaptive path planning.
