Science Slam: Creative Ideas with Impact!

This is an activity based workshop which will provide you tools and space to create clever, entertaining, and dynamic storyline ideas with the aim of participating in a Science Slam event. I’ll take you from the start of your idea to the actual performance of your story. The workshop offers group activities, which help promote creative thinking and also improve expression and stage presence.

• Improving language and style

• Input on Slam techniques

• Focus on non-verbal expression and stage presence to enhance your performance

Julie Stearns is a professional communication trainer and coach, as well as a theater director and actress, and university lecturer. She has over 25 years of experience as a freelance director and actress in schools, universities, theaters, and organizations in America and Germany. As a trainer and coach, Julie focuses on providing hands-on experience for academics and professionals in order to improve their overall speaking and presentation skills, as well as improving fluency, accuracy, and style of communication.

Everyone is welcome to join. This workshop is not limited to Science Slam participants, but open to anyone interested in becoming a more confident presenter. To participate, please register via mrd@rub.de by May 19, 2026. Lunch will be provided.
