New findings on the function of the STRIPAK signaling complex was gained by researchers from Bochum, Düsseldorf and Dortmund. They analyzed the complex that is found in all organisms with cell nuclei in the fungus Sordaria macrospora and found target proteins.
Biologists of RUB and Göttingen university have gained insights into how cells specialize through the action of distinct enzymes. "These enzymes, named kinases, have similar structural and functional characteristics in diverse organisms, for example animals and fungi", says Dr. Daria Radchenko, who analyzed these enzymes during her doctoral research studies at the chair for General and Molecular Botany.
PRO 1 is a Zn(II)2Cys6 zinc binuclear cluster transcription factor that controls fruiting body development in the sexual life cycle of the filamentous fungus Sordaria macrospora. ChIP-seq analysis showed that PRO1 binds to promoter regions of developmental genes encoding components of conserved signaling complexes.
