Wissenschaftliche Schwerpunkte

Das Forschungsgebiet ist die zelluläre und molekulare Neurobiologie, mit den Schwerpunkten Entwicklung, Plastizität und Regeneration des ZNS. Themen sind die strukturelle und funktionelle Charakterisierung von Zelladhäsionsmolekülen, von Komponenten der Extrazellulärmatrix und komplexer Glykane in neuralen Stammzellen, bei Neuron-Glia Wechselwirkungen, bei Axonwachstum und –lenkung, bei Synaptogenese und synaptischer Plastizität sowie bei der Hemmung der Regeneration des ZNS. In jüngerer Zeit stehen in diesem Rahmen die Signaltransduktion durch Tyrosinphosphatasen und kleine GTPasen der Rho-Familie und deren Regulationsfaktoren im Mittelpunkt. Methodisch verwendet die Arbeitsgruppe ein weites Repertoire biochemischer, zell- und molekularbiologischer, immunologischer und morphologischer Ansätze, unter Einschluss genetisch modifizierter Mausmodelle.
