In Memoriam

  1. Heinz Georg Scharbert (1925-1999)

    Heinz Georg Scharbert from the Petrology Department of the University of Vienna was in charge of the 2nd IEC which was held at Vienna, Austria, end of August 1985. He was president between 1985 and 1989 and passed away on December 29, 1999.

  2. Volkmar Trommsdorff (1936-2005)

    Volkmar Trommsdorff, president of the IECCC between 1997 and 2001 and National Representative of Switzerland, passed away on June 17, 2005. Volkmar was one of the organizers of the IEC-5 in Ascona and member of the ETH Zürich since 1972, where he retired in 2001.

  3. Tony Carswell (1941-2006)

    Tony Carswell from Sheffield University dedicated his academic career to the petrology of HP and UHP-metamorphic rocks and was National Representative of the UK. He was one of the organizers of the “Alice Wain Memorial West Norway Eclogite Field Symposium 2003” and passed away on June 7, 2006.

  4. Lauro Morten (1941-2006)

    Our friend and committee-member Lauro Morten passed away on November 18, 2006. Lauro was president of IECCC between 1993 and 1997 and the National Representative of Italy. He organized the IEC-4 1993 in Cosenza and was member of the Università di Bologna.

  5. Nonna Bakun-Czubarow (1937-2012)

    Nonna Bakun-Czubarow, a faithful attendee of the International Eclogite Conferences passed away on April 14th, 2012. She was an active member of the IECCC and a worthy National Representative of Poland. Nonna was member of Institute of Geological Sciences, Polish Academy of Sciences at Warsaw University.

  6. Kai Ye (1966-2013)

    Kai Ye from Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Science in Beijing and National Representative of China passed away on March 16th, 2013. Kai was president of IECCC between 2008 and 2009 and in charge of the 8th IEC in Xining.

  7. Bor-Ming Jahn (1940-2016)

    Bor-Ming Jahn passed away on December 1, 2016. We have not only lost the National Representative of Taiwan, but a personal friend of many IECCC-delegates. Bor-Ming was a gentleman with an optimistic charisma and a positive attitude towards life.
