IEC-13 - Petrozavodsk, Karelia Russia – 2019

The 13th IEC was organized at Petrozavodsk (Karelia, Russia). It took place between 24th and 27th of July, 2019. The organizing team included the Chair Vladislav Shatsky (V.S. Sobolev Institute of Geology and Mineralogy, Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk), the Deputy Chairs Alexei Perchuk (Department of Petrology, Geological Faculty, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow) and Alexander Slabunov (Institute of Geology, Karelian Research Centre, Russian Academy of Sciences, Petrozavodsk), as well as the Executive Secretary Anfisa Pilitsyna (Geological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow). 175 participants from 15 countries attended the conference; 51 talks and 38 posters were presented (Abstract volume).

The Pre- and Post-Conference field trips (June 18th-23rd and June 27th-July 1st) guided by Victor Balagansky (Geological Institute, Kola Science Centre, Russian Academy of Sciences, Apatity), Andrey Shchisky (Geological Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow) and Alexander Slabunov (Institute of Geology, Karelian Research Centre, Russian Academy of Sciences, Petrozavodsk) led to Early Precambrain eclogites and related rocks of the Belmorian Province, Fennoscandian Shield. One field trip was organized in the Gridino area, with visits on different islands in the surrounding (Stolbikha, Izbnaya Luda, Tsoizititovy, Vorotnaya Luda). The other field trip focused on the Salma and Kuru-Vaara areas (Uzkaya Salma, Shirokaya Salma, Kuru-Vaara quarry) (Pre- and Post-Conference field guide). 86 Participants attended the Pre- and post-Conference field trips. Accommodation was offered at Gridino village and at Hotel Belomorie in Kandalaksha.

Scientific Program: Talks and Posters

A report and three papers related to the 13th IEC edited by Vladislav Shatsky were published in Russian Geology and Geophysics (2021, Volume 5).

Four further papers edited by Jaroslaw Majka and Iwona Klonowska were published in Minerals (2020, Volume 10).
