The 1st International Eclogite Conference (IEC) was organized by Dave Smith (Convenor), Jean-Robert Kienast, Jacques Kornprobst and Bernard Lasnier, assisted by Michèle Pinet and Danièl Vielzeuf in Clermont-Ferrand, France (August 31st – September 2nd, 1982). The conference was attended by 105 participants from 23 countries.Abstracts of the IEC-1 including an introductory article were published in Terra Cognita (1982) Vol. 2, No. 3:281-337.
