Dear Colleagues,

The election for the staff council for scientific/artistic employees at the Ruhr University Bochum will take place on June 20, 2024. The university will shortly send you postal voting documents to your work address. If you are present at the university on June 20th, you can alternatively take part in the ballot box in the Audimax. The staff council represents your interests in the department. But it only has a strong negotiating position if you vote.

That's why we ask you: Take advantage of your opportunity to vote by post or ballot box.

Does staff council work concern you?

YES, because it is about, for example, the correct payscale classification, a sufficiently long contract period (in accordance with the guidelines for good employment), correct job description and good conditions in the workplace. Anyone who works full time should be paid that way. Has it been checked whether all financing options have been exhausted? And what about bullying, warnings or even termination? Those affected need competent, trustworthy support. No one has to go through workplace conflicts alone. You have the right to be accompanied by a WPR member of your choice. If you have good ideas for advancing the university and your working world (e.g. sustainable university, mobility change, etc.), then we would be happy if you shared them with us! Get in touch and maybe you'll take part in the next election.

Is it important which list of candidates you vote for?

YES, because UAP is an independent list and acts independently. The interests of the employees are our top priority. Unlike as often is the case with staff councils, the representation of the interests of scientific/artistic employees is not predominantly characterized by union members. And that is good. Regardless of party or union membership, the elected staff councils must protect the official, social and personnel interests of all employees. UAP stands for transparent, trusting, cooperative and issue-oriented staff council work. Fair treatment, respectful cooperation and non-violent communication characterize our working style among ourselves and also in our dialogue with the department. If necessary, we will also fight hard for the interests of all employees. A particular concern of ours is the independence of officials on the staff council. The core profile of our list is high professionalism and usually many years of experience in the complexity of staff council work, commitment to the interests of employees, independence and personal responsibility. UAP is against any attempt to introduce union politics into the university through the committee on a massive scale and often without any real consideration of the employees affected.

Exercise your right to vote and vote UAP!
