THE PROJECTS

Supported by the German Cancer Foundation (Deutsche Krebshilfe) and the
Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)

In collaboration with the Medical Proteome Center (MPC) state of the art proteomic technologies are applied to detect differentially expressed proteins from primary tumor cells and/or cell line model systems. Importantly, the MPC succeeded in developing a procedure including fluorescence dye saturation labeling in combination with two-dimensional gel electrophoresis for the analysis of proteins extracted from 1000 microdissected cells with a high resolution of up to 2500 protein spots (Sitek et al. ). This technology is currently been used to detect protein expression differences among microdissected PanIN-lesions and normal ductal cells.
