When you arrive at Düsseldorf
Airport look for the Sky-Train.
Before
entering the Sky-Train you need to buy a ticket (or you must have a
Rail & Fly ticket). Use vending machines which have the sign VRR
and get a ticket of category C (approx 8 ¤). Cancel the ticket at the
corresponding machines before you start the trip. This ticket is then
valid for all parts of the trip to Bochum university .
First take the Sky-Train to Bahnhof Düsseldorf Flughafen. Then use a train
to get to Hauptbahnhof Bochum. In case you use trains which are labeled
by IC, ICE or EC, you will be asked to pay a substantial surcharge by
the conductor; it is worth avoiding these trains.
For further information on how to get to the university look at
"Arriving by train" below.
Arriving by train
After arriving at the main station (Hauptbahnhof) in Bochum look for
the U-sign, leading you to the subways. You need to buy a ticket of
category A from the vending machines which have a sign VRR (in case you
have arrived at Bochum Hauptbahnhof with a ticket from the VRR, you do
not need to buy another ticket if you are within the time limits).
Use U35 direction (Richtung)Querenburg//Hustadt and exit at the stop
University which you should arrive at after about 9 minutes.
To find your way on the campus please have a look at this map.
The math department is located in the building NA, which is the most
western of the four green buildings on the map. Take an elevator to the
1th floor (not 01). You will find our offices to your left hand side.
