Prof. Schuhmann obtained his diploma degree in chemistry from the University in Karlsruhe, Germany and his PhD at the Technical University of Munich. In 1987 he joined the group of Prof. H.-L. Schmidt at the Technical University of Munich and started there with his habilitation work about electron-transfer pathways in amperometric biosensors. After finishing his habilitation in 1994 he was appointed to be a professor for Analytical Chemistry at the Ruhr-Universit&auml;t Bochum in 1995. His research interest addresses the development of reagentless amperometric biosensors with improved electron-transfer characteristics, micro-electrochemistry, miniaturization of biosensors, scanning electrochemical microscopy, miniaturized assays, and combinatorial <a href="neu.html">electrochemistr
