The host of the 7th IEC was Seggau near Graz in Austria (3-9 July 2005); the conference was organized by G. Hoinkes and A. Proyer. About 180 participants from 32 countries attended the meeting; the number of presentations was 164. During the meeting 3 excursions were organized

(1) Koralpe (different types of eclogites and metagabbros, HP-mylonites and micaschists)

(2) Saualpe (eclogite and zoisite type localities with coarse grained kyanite eclogite)

(3) Volcanic region in eastern Styria (xenoliths of primitive mantle compsition)

The 3-day post-conference Tauern excursion focused on eclogite facies rocks in the Tauern Window (Penninic unit).

The field guides were published in Mitt. Österr. Miner. Ges., 150 (2005).
