Gelsenkirchen: Musiktheater im Revier

Musiktheater im Revier (MiR) in Kennedyplatz in Gelsenkirchen is one of the most prominent theatre buildings set up in the post-war era. Inaugurated in late 1959, the edifice that houses two auditoriums, namely the large and the small hall, hosts operas, musicals, symphony concerts and ballet performed by the troupe "Ballett im Revier". Every year, as many as 250 performances take place in the large hall, with a stage area of 450 sqm and seating 1004 people, and the small hall, with a stage area of 180 sqm and seating 336 people.
