Mühlheim: Camera Obscura

The world's largest accessible camera obscura is situated in the dome of the former reservoir tower that was used to supply water for locomotives in Mülheim. Installed in 1992, that pre-photographic apparatus affords a panorama view across the former horticultural exhibition area and the Ruhr promenades. In the tower's lower floors, the permanent film exhibition "Museum zur Vorgeschichte des Films" displays approx. 1,100 exhibits related to the evolution of cinematographic moving pictures.
