Duisburg: Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord

In the mid-80s, the Thyssen blast furnace plant in Duisburg-Meiderich was decommissioned. Since then, the former industrial plant has been redeveloped and turned into an event and recreation site, stretching over 180-hectare premises: Landschaftspark Duisburg Nord. The former factory buildings are now used for cultural events, for example during Ruhrtriennale. The old gasometer houses Europe's largest scuba diving centre. Those who are aiming high give the climbing walls a go. Visitors who prefer a quiet walk or wish to enjoy the panorama will find themselves in the right place in Landschaftspark as well. Consequently, a trip to Duisburg is definitely worth your while.
