PhD Position in Animal Ecology

In the frame of the new Collaborative Research Center 1439 "Multilevel response to stressor increase and release

in stream ecosystems (RESIST)" which recently has been funded by The German Research Foundation (DFG),

we offer 1 PhD position. The Collaborative Research Center will start its work on January 01, 2021. 20 positions will be filled and

collaboration within the SFB is essential. 

We offer:

1 PhD Student in Aquatic Ecology

The PhD student will work in the project: „The scent of danger - predator-mediated shifts in benthic invertebrate community composition
and genotypic diversity in multiply-stressed riverine ecosystems“.

The project focuses on the effects of stressors on macroinvertebrate stream communities. Specifically,
the influence on infochemical mediated predator – prey interactions will be studied in well controlled and highly replicable,
experimental field mesocosms (ExStream System).

We are seeking to recruit
a highly motivated ecologist to join our group (http://www.rub.de/ecoevo/) in an innovative research program
with high international visibility. The ideal candidate is fascinated by ecological and evolutionary questions, independent and creative.
She/he has a background in aquatic ecology, has worked with aquatic systems before and is experienced in molecular methods.
Experience with aquatic macroinvertebrates is an advantage and she/he likes to do field work. A MSc (or equivalent) in Biology, Ecology or Biodiversity is required,
Good knowledge in English language is essential.

The position is funded for three years, starting as soon as possible. Salary is according to the German Public Service (E 13 TV-L, 65 %).
