Welcome to the Apfel group

What are we doing? Bioinorganic technical electrochemistry would fit it best...

we are interested in the activation of biologically and industrially relevant small molecules such as H2, N2, O2, CO, N2 and CO2. Especially the activation of CO2 and formation of H2 are main topics and projects involve the synthesis of novel homogenous and heterogenous electro- and photocatalytic materials as functional mimics for the Carbon monoxide dehydrogenase and Hydrogenases. In addition, we are interested in the manufacturing of industrial relevant electrodes and reactors equipped with our materials.

Likewise, we are active in the field of organic electroctrochemistry and bioelectrochemical systems.
