Zur Person

Martin Gehlmann ist seit Februar 2022 Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter und Studienfachberater der Sektion Sprache und Kultur Koreas in der Fakultät für Ostasienwissenschaften der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Von Dezember 2014 bis Januar 2022 war er als Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Koreastudien sowie im Sonderforschungsbereich 980 „Episteme in Bewegung“ an der Freien Universität Berlin tätig. Er promovierte im Dezember 2020 an der Freien Universität Berlin mit einer Arbeit zu konfuzianischen Akademien. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in den Bereichen Bildungsgeschichte Ostasiens, Institutionen im vormodernen Korea, Konfuzianismus und Kulturerbe.

Dissertation

In seiner Dissertation „Passing on the Torch of Learning. The White Deer Grotto Academy in Transfer between China and Korea“ untersuchte er den Transfer von Wissen um konfuzianische Akademien zwischen China und Korea im 13. bis 16. Jahrhundert.
