For Prospective International Students

Ruhr-University Bochum as well as the Department of Korean Studies have made efforts to provide better conditions to international students. The majority of courses are held in German and with regard to campus and everyday life, a sufficient proficiency level in German is recommendable; however, there is also a limited opportunity to attend classes held in English. PhD theses may be written in English. The department continuously endeavors to meet the demands of international students. Nowadays, an increasing number of students from other European countries like the Netherlands as well as from China, Japan, and Korea are enrolled in the Korean Studies programs at RUB.
