"Is future energy supplies a scientific or a political problem?"

In this talk I would address how irrationally we address the energy question from an every day perspective. Technical solutions will be compared to changes in behavior and consumption patterns.

Talk of Prof. Hjörvarsson, Uppsala University, this Thursday (11.02) at 4:00 pm at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, building NB, floor 4, room 158.

RD IS³/HTM Workshop “Materials for Harsh Environments” und 7. Materialwissenschaftlicher Tag
der Ruhr-Universität Bochum

12./13.November, Veranstaltungszentrum Ruhr-Universität Bochum Lageplan

Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) is one of the research priorities at the RUB where it has strong tradition. It is based on a joint approach from engineering and science departments with the objective to contribute to a better understanding of basic and applied problems related to the use of materials in advanced technologies.

7. Materialwissenschaftlicher Tag
On the occasion of the “Materialwissenschaftliche Tag” we would like to provide an overview about the variety of materials science related research within the Collaborative Research Centers (Sonderforschungsbereiche, SFBs) funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) – SFB 459 (“shape memory technology”, speaker: Prof. Dr. G. Eggeler); SFB 491 (“magnetic heterostructures: spin structures and spin transport”, speaker: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. H. Zabel); SFB 526 (“rheology of the earth”, speaker: Prof. Dr. W. Friederich) and SFB 558 (“metal-substrate interactions in heterogeneous catalysis”, speaker: Prof. Dr. M. Muhler) – at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
